Tina’s Big Burrito: Beef & Bean Review

When it comes to a $1.30 burrito…or really anything you get for a dollar…you have to wonder what you’re getting. And I was skeptical when I first purchased this. I was like “No way this is remotely good. But it’s cheap.” I’ve been eating pretty cheaply lately. Long story, that one.

But what I can absolutely say here, is that you get a little more than you pay for and there’s some real value to these burritos. They are actually pretty big, they are pretty filling and…if you need something like that for cheap, this is a good option.

Now, I’ve tried the whole fleet of Tina’s Big Burrito’s and I think this is the best one overall. It’s the beefiest and most consistent of the trio. It will always have plenty of beans and beef and it really is never overseasoned.

See, when you’re having a frozen burrito, you obviously don’t expect much. But what you hope for is a strong baseline and a calorie dense meal. This provides both. In fact, with the right set of sides, this can be an anchor in a very solid meal. 18 grams of protein is not bad, the flavors here are solid, but also non-confrontational. If you like beans and beef (or at least the concept of beans and beef), you should be reasonably content with this burrito.

Overall, I can recommend this burrito, for it’s purpose at least. You won’t be going wrong buying this in a pinch and if you dress it up a bit, you can probably turn it into something really good. I think for what it is, the quality is quite good. The texture is not bad, the tortilla wrap is sturdy and holds firm. But it’s also not “doughey.” The flabors do come through but you wouldn’t be blindsided with some secret sauce or uneasy twist. It’s exactly what it’s supposed to be and it should be celebrated for that.
