Stok Coldbrew Coffee: Not Too Sweet Bold and Smooth-Review

What a clunker of a title. But as you can see, there’s not really a great way to abbreviate the title of this product. I saw it for sale at Walmart and thought I’d try it, because sometimes you need to quickly grab some coffee and by quickly I mean within seconds of waking up. I’ve always liked cold brew, but it’s never been my go to. When I was younger, during the summers in Colombia, I would make iced coffee out of the remainder of the pot. But other than that, I rarely dabble with it.

But I thought this looked interesting and it was a better price than you expect to pay for modern coffee products. It’s about $5 and it’s a lot of coffee. This one I got, the Bold and Smooth/Not Too Sweet was very nice. It’s a smooth black coffee with a hint of sugar, just enough to give it a little hint of sweetness. In fact, in my experience, it seemed to be the almost perfect ratio for putting in a little milk if you like doing that (I do).

Cold brews have lower acidic content than normal hot brewed coffee and that comes through in this coffee in the form of pure drinkability. A cup of hot black coffee, even with sugar, is always a battle of strong sensibilities regardless of your tastes in coffee. I think you’ll find this coffee goes down smoother and not just because it’s cold. This is a very tasteful black coffee, one that doesn’t lean too far into any niche while still having the strong rugged body many coffee drinkers like, albeit in a very drinkable form here.

All in all, I was very content with my STOK sweetened black coffee. I daresay I think they know what they’re doing. A very elegant iced coffee for a very solid price and very convenient too. This didn’t feel like it would replace my normal hot coffee routine, it felt like it augmented it, maybe even improved it. It was easier to just get my quick caffeine fix in with a shot of STOK than brew up a whole pot. Probably better for me too, because I was drinking a whole pot of coffee every afternoon. Either way, this stuff is very good and I will be trying more soon. Next time you see it try it out.
